We Are the Answer: The Young Political Foundation’s Fight to End Gerontocracy
This is our answer to gerontocracy: a nationwide movement to end gerontocracy by training and electing a new generation of American leaders.
We are Americans who refuse to accept that our political future belongs to a gerontocracy — a class of career politicians in their 80s and 90s. Veterans, small business owners, teachers, first responders, single mothers, and pastors: together, we are the patriots united to end gerontocracy in Washington. We are the Young Political Foundation. And we are the answer.
“We don’t need permission from Washington to save America. We are Washington’s replacement.”
— Joe E. Collins III, FounderThe Reality of Gerontocracy We Refuse to Accept
The oldest sitting U.S. Senator is 92 years old, and the median age in the United States Senate is 26 years older than the median American. In fact, five members of the 119th Congress have already died in office since January 2025 — and more than a dozen have died in office since the start of the decade, already outpacing the entire prior decade in less than half the time.
The country knows something is wrong. According to Pew Research, roughly 87% of Americans support congressional term limits. That is not a partisan number. That is a mandate. Learn more about how gerontocracy took hold in Washington and why it must end. And yet nothing changes — because the only people with the power to fix the system are the people benefiting from it. So we stopped waiting for them.
“The people ruling this country are older than most of our grandparents. That ends with us.”
— Joe E. Collins IIIWho We Are: The Movement to End Gerontocracy
We are not a think tank. Nor are we a lobbying shop. And we’re certainly not a Washington reform group writing polite white papers. Instead, we are a national movement — built in living rooms, VFW halls, church basements, and gymnasiums across this country by ordinary Americans who share one conviction: the way to end gerontocracy is not to complain about it. It’s to replace it.
The Young Political Foundation is powered by patriots in every state. There is no billionaire benefactor behind this movement — no dark money, no corporate machine. Only a nation of Americans who share the same conviction, and the movement we built together to turn that conviction into action. Meet the team leading this fight.
“This is not a political organization. This is a movement. And you built it.”
— Joe E. Collins IIIWhat We Do — Together to End Gerontocracy
“We are not waiting for the next generation of leaders. We are training them.”
— Joe E. Collins IIIThe Receipts: Proof We’re Ending Gerontocracy
Backed by Americans in every state, we’ve delivered:
- Over $14 million raised across recent Congressional campaigns.
- We also raised over $7 million for other candidates and conservative organizations.
- Over 50,000 new Republican voters registered.
- More than 250 Americans hired at over 20 job fairs we’ve organized.
- Over 300,000 pounds of food distributed to families in need.
- Over 60,000 backpacks and school supplies given to students nationwide.
- A national network of young candidates being trained for public office right now.
What We’re Fighting For: Ending Gerontocracy for Good
Building the next generation is our mission. But ending gerontocracy also requires structural reform — the common-sense changes Washington keeps blocking, all of which poll above 80% support with the American people. See our full slate of endorsed issues and policy priorities:
- Term limits for Congress. No more 40- and 50-year careers.
- Cognitive and physical fitness standards for elected officials, consistent with what we already require of military personnel and commercial pilots.
- A total ban on individual stock trading by members of Congress and their families.
- An end to congressional pensions for members convicted of felonies related to their service.
- Real transparency in how our elected officials spend the public’s money.
“The receipts don’t lie. Neither do the American people funding this fight.”

JOIN US TODAYFrequently Asked Questions About Ending Gerontocracy
What is the Young Political Foundation’s Plan to End Gerontocracy?
The Young Political Foundation is a national movement dedicated to identifying, training, supporting, and electing the next generation of American leaders. Our mission is to end gerontocracy in American politics by building a pipeline of young, principled, constitutionally grounded Americans ready to serve at every level of government — from school boards to Congress.
How can I get involved?
There are four ways to help: Donate — every dollar funds candidate recruitment and training. Volunteer — we need patriots on the ground in every state. Refer a candidate — if you know a young American who should be running for office, tell us. Finally, spread the word — share our work with your family, friends, church, and community.
How is the Young Political Foundation different from other conservative organizations?
Most political organizations exist to influence policy, run ads, or hold events. By contrast, we exist to build the next generation of leaders themselves in the fight to end gerontocracy. Ground up. Movement driven. Backed by patriots in every state. Read more about our mission.
